Grafx Appointed Extensis Preferred Partner for 2010

by Jon on Jan.12, 2010, under Grafx

EPP2010-300x77

Grafx are proud to announce the continued status of Extensis Preferred Partner for 2010. This status recognises the skills found within Grafx to actively promote and support the full range of Extensis products, including Font Management Solutions such as UTS2 and Sutcase Fusion 2, and Digital Asset Management tools such as Portfolio, Portfolio Server, Net Publish and Net Media Max. We are sure this status will not only promote Grafx to a national level, but also allow us a greater means of supporting all our existing clients.

Kevin Lamb (Channel Sales Manager for Extensis Europe) said of our reappointment

‘Extensis is delighted to be able to renew the Extensis Preferred Partner status granted to Grafx during 2008. Over the last 12+ months, Grafx has continued to develop its sales performance and technical expertise to such a level as to make this authorisation an easy decision.’

This year Grafx will be putting on a series of seminars about Font and Digital Asset Management as well as tailored demonstrations relevant to your company. If you would like to discuss how Grafx can help your business in these areas please contact Jon on 01242 704364.

The Extensis Total Control Tour 23rd September 2009- Here at Grafx!

by Jon on Jul.24, 2009, under Grafx

EuroTour_FMDAM_EmailHDR_EN

As an Extensis preferred partner here in the South of the UK we get involved in lots of Extensis based promotions. With the recent release of Portfolio 9 (and of course the relatively recent release of Universal Type Server 2) Extensis asked us if we would like to be part of their upcoming tour where the two products will be demonstrated. Of course with our client base (creative professionals, design agencies the list goes on!) we jumped at the chance.

It will be a morning seminar with two sessions on Portfolio 9 and UTS2 and of course your welcome to attend one or both sessions.

I will be sending out further details next week however if you want to reserve your place now (these events are always oversubscribed at Grafx) then drop me a line.

Helveticas!! Why do they always clash?

by Steve Faulkner on Apr.16, 2009, under Steve Faulkner

This is one of the most commonly asked questions since the launch of Leopard, so I will try and give a short concise breakdown of what the best way to work with your Helveticas actually is.

1.Leopard places Helvetica and Helvetica Neue directly into the system folder, fonts. It uses these fonts to work directly in Apple applications such as iPhoto.
2.The fonts have to be available at system level, not used in a font manager for these Apple applications to work.
3.Remove them from the System, Fonts folder and place them in the user Library, Fonts folder instead.
4.In order to prevent them reappearing in the System, Fonts folder you must switch off the “Alert me if system fonts change” preference in Fontbook.
5.If you have good font management such as UTS or Fusion you can manage both fonts in harmony.
6.If you have no font management software, create another user in order to use your postscript Helvetica fonts.

There you go easy isn’t it! If you have this issue and need further guidance don’t be afraid to get in touch.
